The last time I blogged about Total Fest it felt like there was a flow - people, music, scenery. I can't say the same about the following pictures. I just couldn't really pay much attention to my camera because I was too busy huggin' up on and lovin' the faces of the people I was spending my time with.
So, these posts are sort of more of a Faces of Total Fest 2009...rather than a rock out recap.
It can't be the same every year and it wouldn't be any fun if it was.
For the first time ever, I had a friend accompany me to Missoula.
This is Miriam - she's been blogged about before...she's a total babe focused on having a good time, hanging heavy, and laughing a lot!
I have to say - Miriam saved my sorry ass more than once on this trip. She is a fine friend and I'm lucky to have her in my friendship arsenal!
On the plane to Missoula, we met Brian.
Brian was on a clandestine horny adventure. I won't elaborate anymore than that.
But he'd never been to Montana before and wanted to know the lay of the land...
We set him straight and then he bought us a round!
Thanks Brian - I hope your trip was everything you expected it to be and more!
Immediately upon arriving, we had to hit Flippers Family Casino for the editorial portion of the Dog Dick layout. This was Dog Dick V.
Hope you got a copy, you dumb ass.
Jenny Jen and Joseph picked us up at the airport and took us to El Cazador.
Bless them both! We ate the shit out of some chips and salsa and Miriam got to know my all time fave ladies!
I'd been gushing about them for months - it was about time!
Somehow, I ended up at American Made Tattoo in greater downtown Missoula.
Josh May, ATL tattoo maven and long time bro, was workin' it down there with a herniated disc. So good to see his face! His band Thee Hedons were playing Total Fest!
Later, we met up for the 1st of 3 Total Fest BBQs.
These functions are amazing! You get to see so many faces.
Here is one Jackie Weaver - Amazing Mom of my super lady friend Mandy!
Jackie loves my salsa recipe! Bless the woman!
Niki aka Bunnikula!
Good to see old friends!
Millicent!
God damn, I love this woman.
Total Festers!
Laughter, first and foremost!
The first band to kick off Total Fest was El Zombi Gato! This band is an amalgamation of a whole crew of people that I absolutely adore.
Wendy is one of those people!
Wendy is a solid lady to the max and I'm honored to know her!
There were some sound probs, but you know who was on the job!
Justin is a man among men! I adore him!
Gross. Look who else showed up!
FERD and Jake Blackman aka the original Jethro Tull of the skinflute!
Actually, I love FERD and Jake!
Jake just had a new little baby boy named Ike and he gushed about him to me over cellphone pics of his new family addition! Congrats Jake!
Main man, Total Fest bad ass, and front man for El Zombi Gato - Dennis!
God damn, that man is amazing! I only wish you could have been there for their cover of the theme song from 'Laverne and Shirley'!
Dan Oblio is in El Zombi Gato!
Anything that he's involved with is good!
All time Missoula fave right here!
Look! Millicent is in El Zombi Gato too!
It's great to see her rockin' out in a new band - about time!
Mandy and Erika!
These ladies! Prizes!
This band...
Red Obelisk!
Holy Mac - amazing!
And I swear I saw the crazy broken handed front man working the door and pitching in all over Total Fest!
Fine fellows, indeed!
And these ladies...
Miriam, Joey (Joseph), and Jen!
Playing a theramin with a broken hand!
The drummer was totally a cute little peach too!
Actually, Rooster Sauce was pretty amazing...pictures forthcoming!
Valsava Menuver!
And on the drums, favorite drummer - Matt Lawler!
God damn, I love those Lawlers!
It was so nice to see Matt again - and he's an x-ray tech just like my Mom!
Matt's band was awesome!
They tore it up and gave it to Total Fest Kalispell style!
Total kid! This is Preston...and I've known him since he was an infant!
I'm pretty sure this was his first Total Fest and I can guarantee that it won't be his last!
Joseph, Mike and Ferd!
Mike is an old school Missoulian and just about the nicest guy you could know!
JIGGYWATTS!
Spokane rap at it's mother effin' best!
From their adorable girl DJ keeping it cute in the back to the Locke and James Two killing it lyrically - this was one of the Total Fest highlights for me!
We danced our tails off!
And when I turned around, my super pal forever The Count was grinding me from behind!
Clearly, Mike was perplexed by it all...which is understandable!
Total Fest is a whirlwind!
But there's more to come! Promise!
