It's A Really Long Story

My boss invited all of us to have a drink on Friday after work.
Thus...the end of Wholesome November.
You can't exactly tell your boss that you won't have a drink with him when he's paying. Right?
Help me justify this, friends.

Co-worker Michelle didn't help the situation.
She's a classic enabler...but the very best kind.

And so the walls of Wholesome November came tumbling down. Prior to dinner at Ling & Louie's, I stopped at Steph's place to pick up the two bottles of wine I drunkenly purchased at that blasted wine tasting.
I had one delicious glass of wine there.

These maniacs were doing sake bombs and getting wild!

I tried to keep it toned down...one Dark & Stormy!
A diabolical mixture of rum and ginger beer...

We gorged ourselves on all manner of appetizers...

It's always nice to see both Delillis in the same room - making a Sweet Gina sandwich!

Favorite bros!

I told Steph I would post this pic because her boobs look tremendous!

After dinner, I went home, pulled on some PJ pants, and slipped in disc one, season three of The Wire and got cozy.
But Sweet Gina and Steph were madly texting and calling from the Lair. Newly married Shannon's band, The Swindlers, were playing...
Still, it took a call from Maura B, stuck at the BAR BAR, to get me out of bed.

The only pic I got at that point in the night was this one of me and Miriam.
She mentioned something about she and I being in the "blogosphere".

In the morning, Maura B and I met up with my fave Jess at the Berkley Cafe and ate their outrageous breakfast burrito.
GO THERE! Their green chili will knock your socks clean off your feet!
p.s. Please note the coyote mug that Jess was drinking out of. I was so green I could hardly stand myself!

Breakfast Mavericks.
Yeah, I'm taking back Maverick from the Repubs.
I sort of like to say it.

Oh, and the Berkley Cafe has this huge screen hung up with this amazing picture of a cat dressed as a pilgrim and a dog dressed as an indian.
Don't act like it's not awesome.

Later, I met up with Mic.

We had made a date to continue work on our big project!
This included a stop at one of my new fave places - Standard Restaurant Supply!

This place is chock full of great stuff. Organizational stuff that illicits a very satisfying feeling!

Supplies!

The Davy Crackit and the Meat Hammer!

I think these were for candles, but Micaela and I thought they look like those fancy kegel barbells.

Classy Cap.

Chef Couture!

We had to make a quick stop at this magical place too.

I covet this.

I covet this too.

Religion never tasted so delicious!

I love this place!
Stockings, nacho cheese, mops, gift cards, oatmeal facial masks!
Later I met up with Baby S and his family.
We had a great dinner and went to see the new James Bond movie.

I don't know what "Quantum of Solace" means, but my translation would be "Daniel Craig is an undeniable hot potato".
Just sayin'.

Sunday, was a trip to the Museum of Contemporary Art!

Have you been there before?

We started at the top and worked down.

The view up there is great and the weather was perfect for gazing at the city!

There are secret rooms in the museum that have this sort of stuff plastered to the walls.
Perhaps it's not "secret", per se, but it sort of feels that way.

Of course, my life partner in crime was there.

We spent a lot of time in the elevator...standing far away from each other...

This is what it feels like to be in a hive.

I can't say that I was SUPER impressed with the work this go round at the MCA.

There were a few compelling things...

...but on the whole, it left me feeling pretty empty.

This, in particular, left me feeling pretty empty.

On the other hand, this painting was amazing.
Epic.
On such a grand scale...with such disturbing imagery...that I had to sit in front of it for a while and contemplate.

The Damien Hirst exhibit was a shit show.
It will piss you off.
And if it doesn't, then I don't know if our internet friendship will develop much further than this.
(Just jokes, but seriously...)

Still, Damien Hirst didn't poison me on the MCA.
Baby S and I decided to become members.
We got the "family" membership with the intention of bringing dates to the museum!
Contemporary art can aid in serious wooing and courtship!

As can red velvet cupcakes...

And black and white cookies!

As we were leaving the museum, for the Men's Warehouse (Spencer had to buy a suit and I swore that I wouldn't take one picture of that semi-anxiety inducing experience), I saw this sidewalk graffiti.
It's probably a peace sign, but I prefer to think of it as an Algiz - a runic symbol...
This website http://www.sunnyway.com/runes/meanings.html says the following about the Algiz:
"Protection, a shield. The protective urge to shelter oneself or others. Defense, warding off of evil, shield, guardian. Connection with the gods, awakening, higher life. It can be used to channel energies appropriately. Follow your instincts. Keep hold of success or maintain a position won or earned."

Seems like a good omen, babies!
