I cried...only a little...in front of my students.
Then, I had them write about their feelings of the new president. I used the word "honest" in their prompt.
One of my students said something along the lines of:
Honestly, I don't really know Obama. He could be a good man or a bad man. I just know I wouldn't want to be him. He has A LOT of people who put their hopes in him. What if he fails?
Not that I think Obama will fail. I definitely am one of the hopeful. I just realize that he is only one person, and human at that. I think I agree with Armando.

I'm hopeful...and will extend him the benefit of the doubt.
I don't think Obama is going to swoop in and recitfy all the wrongs, but he's focused on a good start. That's all I can ask for at this point.
I was watching the today show this morning and they had some statistics on people's estimations of when we'd have an African American president...and some people said not for another 100 years.
I think we're headed in the right direction!
There's always hurdles and bumps in the road, but we're all human...can't avoid that!
